Sir,

I have the honour to acknowledge the receipt

of Mr. J.H. Thomas' despatch No.154 of the 28th April, 1936,

regarding the question of amending Article 194 of the Order-

in-Council dealing with the control of China Companies, and

to enclose in duplicate a Memorandum on this subject by the

Attorney General, to which is annexed a draft Order-in-

Council. The details of the draft Order are explained in

the Memorandum.

Copies of this despatch with enclosures have been sent to His Majesty's Chargé d'Affaires, His Majesty's Consul-General in Shanghai and to His Majesty's Diplomatic Mission in Nanking.
